Loneliness During the Holidays
The American ideal of a “Hallmark holiday” sets lots of people up with false expectations that cannot possibly be met. Whether you have no family to celebrate with or find yourself uncomfortable at family events, it’s important to understand that the vast majority of people are NOT having a perfect holiday either. It is common for this season to create feelings of loneliness and dissapointment.
Finding friends who may be in similar situations to celebrate with can be a great alternative. No matter what your plans, though, managing expectations and not expecting perfection is the first step to approaching the holidays.
