Ana Raquel C. Florencio, MA Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Based on your specific needs and personality, I take a holistic approach drawing from various therapeutic approaches, recognizing that all people are individuals and all difficulties are unique. I specialize in trauma work, relationships, self-esteem, mood disorders, parenting issues and family conflicts, and have experience working in private practice, as well as different community mental health centers providing therapy for individuals ages 5 and up, couples and family therapy, and group therapy.
No matter what difficulties we all face, what pain we go through, what age or background, we all experience a longing for acceptance and connection, to feel empowered and have a meaningful life (yes, even our kiddos!). I believe the best place to start the process toward well-being is accepting where we are in the here and now, while also learning to listen to our longings of where we want to be. I view my role as a counselor to foster an accepting environment while empowering individuals of all ages and families to take steps toward healing and growth.
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling, from Wheaton College Graduate School, and have earned Illinois Licensure as a Professional Counselor. I have acquired additional training toward certification as Clinical Trauma Professional, in Play Therapy, as well as in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I provide therapy in Portuguese, Italian, or English. I am married and have two children, joys of my life.
You are one step closer to living life to its fullest. I look forward to walking with you in this process!
