Hello! My name is Karyn Ness. I am an LCPC with extensive training in trauma recovery. Prior to joining Stenzel Clinical Services, I worked in both the public and private sectors providing therapy across the lifespan. This includes play therapy with young children to address communication and emotional skill development, sensory regulation, and teaching parents how to engage with their children more effectively. In addition. I worked with children and adolescents who were deaf/hard of hearing in both group homes and in-patient psychiatric settings. I have also had the privilege of working in a community mental health center with older adults as they navigated the aging process. I have learned so much working with persons with serious mental illness helping them sustain independent living, and providing individual therapy to help our clients manage their symptoms.
Most recently, I worked with children through adults in a private practice setting, largely addressing, anxiety, depression, and complex PTSD disorders. I practice therapy utilizing EMDR, DBT, CBT, IFS (internal family systems), and body-based techniques to reduce upsetting body sensations that accompany emotional dysregulation and triggers that bring back painful memories and experiences.
I bring to Stenzel Clinical a desire to help people embrace the challenges of mental health concerns and their Christian faith. I will also work with people who do not embrace such faith yet seek recovery using evidenced-based intervention models and techniques. I am passionate about my work, connect with each client as an individual, and am constantly seeking education to improve my clinical knowledge and skills.
