Welcome!  It’s nice to meet you.  My name is Colin Schofield, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters Degree from The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration (SSA), which is now the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. Quite a mouthful!   More simply put, I am a therapist who has been in the field for 10 years.

I have worked in Kindergarten – 8th Grade, High School, Youth Substance Abuse, Therapeutic Residential for Immigrant Youth (Spanish Speaking), and Outpatient settings.  On day one, I will ask you, “What brings you in today?” I like to let clients take the lead at the beginning of our sessions and through our journey together.  I start out with the basics and am a huge fan of Emotions Identification.  I like to develop self-ranking scales, so we have a common language and reference points for how you are doing.  Pretty quickly, we will go over CBT Cognitive Distortions and identify ways we can change our thinking.  I like to find Solutions Focused Options and may assign “homework” for you to work on between sessions.  As we advance in therapy, we will get into DBT Theories like Radical Acceptance, Distress Tolerance, and Duality.  I recognize the incredible importance of relationships; I will discuss the many forms of abuse that can take place between people; and I am a big fan of looking at situations from a Family Systems Lens.  I also know my own limitations and am not afraid to refer out to certified Play Therapists, Substance Abuse Counselors, Support Groups, and Nutritionists.  I want to make sure you and your loved ones get the best possible care.

I have a wife, a five-year-old daughter, a two-year-old son, and an orange cat named Roy.
