My name is Sophia Emmert, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton College. Counseling was not something I imagined myself pursuing for much of my life. It was only when I found myself in a place where I deeply needed help that I began to understand the kind of healing that can happen when someone is willing to truly sit with
you in your pain.

My counselor met me in some of my most challenging moments with compassion, patience, and understanding. Together, we searched for a way forward at a pace that felt gentle and sustainable. That experience changed my life, and it is one of the reasons I feel so drawn to this work today. I believe there is something profoundly meaningful about not having to sit alone in the dark anymore. Healing often begins when people no longer feel they have to carry their pain by themselves. It is a privilege to walk alongside people in their stories, and I hope you experience safety, compassion, understanding, collaboration, and steadiness in our work together.
