Entering the Playroom: Core Theories and Essential Skills in Play Therapy is a FREE introductory workshop designed to provide mental health professionals and students with foundational knowledge and practical skills for engaging children through play therapy. Participants will explore the distinctions between play therapy and using play-based activities in counseling, examine core concepts from Child-Centered and Adlerian play therapy approaches, and practice essential clinical skills. The workshop will introduce the structure and process of play therapy sessions, including identifying play themes and stages of play, as well as cover foundational applications of sand tray, documentation, caregiver consultation, and practical implementation considerations across clinical, school, and agency settings.
