About the Class:
Topics of discussion focus on depression, anxiety, self-harm, drug use, trauma, and social media. The goal of this class is to equip parents with simple, yet practical, skills they can use to help their pre/teen navigate difficult emotions.Evidence based modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) will be used. Parents will be given handouts to take home of what was taught in class. This class is designed to be attended back to back, where the second class builds off of the first session.
About the Facilitator:
Alex Goreham is a Clinical Supervisor with Stenzel. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCW), Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRADC), and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and play therapy. He specializes in working with adolescents and families. He specializes in addictions, trauma, adoption, attachment, depression, anxiety, and faith/spirituality.
